The Mayo Hotel Staff offers several guided tours and lecture presentations by appointment.
Tours and lectures are available relating to the history of the Mayo Hotel from the time it was built in 1924 to when it closed its doors as a hotel in early 1980s.Touring The Mayo currently has private party and group tours for:
The Facilities and Events Tour
This half-hour tour includes an escorted walk-through of the Grand Lobby and event area facilities. The tour is designed to present an overview of the capability and suitability of The Mayo for your event needs. The price of this tour is refundable if the Mayo is booked for your event.
This one-hour tour includes a tour of the Grand Lobby and Main Floor displays of artifacts relating a number of personalities who frequented The Mayo and were significant figures in the history of Tulsa and Oklahoma.
This two-hour tour is for the physically fit, as it requires significant stamina and fitness to climb 18 stories to the top of the building! It includes touring the Crystal Ballroom, Penthouse, the 17-1/2 story floor, and the roof (weather permitting).
The Mysteries of The Mayo Tour
This one-hour tour features a combination lecture and walking tour presentation of the historical aspects of The Mayo, including the Ghosts of the Mayo, strange and unusual events, anecdotes and stories of The Mayo. Hear stories of The Mayo while taking a leisurely walk through the lower floors, including the Grand Lobby, adjacent rooms, the Mezzanine, and former executive spaces.
This is a one-hour lecture presentation of the significance of The Mayo during the formative years of Tulsa, covering the history of the Mayo and Tulsa from World War I to the 1970s. This presentation is ideal for small groups, students, and tourists.
This three-hour tour is a combination tour, which includes the major elements of the Grand Lobby Walk of Stars, the Top of Tulsa, the Architecture of the Mayo, and The Mysteries of the Mayo tours.
