This is the Tulsa School of Art party and sale held at the Mayo in the Grand Lobby on December 11, 2003. Art was by Tulsa University alumni dating back to 1940. Entertainment was provided by the Jazz Group Sophisticated Ladies

Tulsa Landmark Folios

Vintage Advertising and Historical Documents: Featuring Views of The Mayo

This album contains advertising documents and a series of architectural drawings. The advertisement is a set of images from a 1970s era brochure describing the interior public event rooms of The Mayo. Shown are the Terrace Room, Pompeian Court, Crest Club, Founders Room, Emerald Room, English Room, Mediterranean Room & the Metropolitan Room all located on the second floor with access via the stairway or one of the 6 elevators.
The architectural drawings are from one of the first proposed renovations of the Mayo.

The making of Walter Wanger's classic movie "TULSA" starring Susan Hayward, Robert Preston, Pedro Armendariz, and Chill Wills was a big event in Tulsa history. There was a large parade and a lot of celebration on April 13, 1949, the date the movie premiered in the city.

The stars came out and the city turned out to see them. This album has several sections, featuring movie stills, the parade, and some of the artifacts and personal photographs of the event.

Historic Route 66 through Tulsa!

This album contains a selection of photographs from the Beryl Ford Collection showing Historic Route 66 in and around Tulsa.

The National Historic Route 66 Federation, a non-profit organization devoted to saving the legendary road, has selected Tulsa as the site for its annual Festival on June 10-13, 2004. Details can be seen on their Route 66 Festival website.

The Mayo will host a presentation by Beryl Ford on the history of Tulsa and Route 66 on Saturday June 12, 2004, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The Mayo Grand Lobby will be open to the public at this time as well.

Shown above is an image of the Womens Lounge area located toward the rear of the Grand Lobby as it now appears ready for a Gala Event. The chandeliers that were in the Crystal Ballroom are now hanging gracefully in the Grand Lobby where weddings, wedding receptions and grand galas are held.
