Bob Hope with Mrs. Mayo, Burch Mayo, Howard Stuart, and Mrs. Vandevers. They are standing by the bank of four passenger elevators located in the Grand Lobby. This lobby was converted in 2002 to house events such as weddings, wedding receptions, local, statewide and national sponsored galas. Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry's Tulsa Inaugural Ball was held here in January 2003. Events can be scheduled from TPC Concepts located at the Mayo. The phone number is 918-583-4757. Since we have opened, we have had nearly 100,000 guests at the events from fall 2002 until May 2003. Plans to renovate The Crystal Ballroom on the top floor with the help of individuals or groups is planned. Contact Major Snyder for details please.

A very crowded celebrity wedding reception near the elevator bank in the Pompeian Court. This regal restaurant and famous event center was opened October 28, 1955 when the grand lobby roof was lowered to accommodate this second floor room. This fantastic event room was used for thousands of events until the hotel closed in the early 1980s. It was reached either by a wonderful staircase toward the rear of the Grand Lobby or by one of the 6 elevators. The court had large colorful murals separated by white columns which enhanced the marble floor. Two near life-sized magnificent bronze Roman Women greeted you at the entrance. Each held an upraised lantern to welcome each guest. These ladies still grace the building sans the arm and are located now in the Grand Lobby. This all occasion room had adjustable lighting for use in dining, dancing and or cocktail parties. It also held many meetings and conventions during its glorious life.
